WEEK 42: Click, click, bang

Prompted by: The Genre Minx

The crazy author says: This little bugger is super short but it was the perfect place to stop so, umm, forgive me?

He searches my gaze before murmuring, “Would you like me to join you?”

“Do you even have to ask?”

Something hardens behind his baby blues.

I can’t pinpoint the reason but whatever it is, I want them to soften again.

“Yeah, I do,” he replies at last.

“Then yes, I would.”

I watch him strategically position his chair before grabbing both wheels to scoot forward in the seat. Slipping a hand under his left knee, he knocks his foot onto the floor and then reaches up to place a forearm atop the counter.

Unbuttoned sleeves are casually pushed to the elbows, revealing the most breathtaking artwork I’ve ever seen in my entire life…

“Just can’t keep your hands off me, can you?” I hear him chuckle.

“Sorry,” the word automatically escapes my lips but it’s a bold-faced lie and we both know it. My fingers have a mind of their own, continuing to caress the ink wrapped around his wrist, and I have zero intention of stopping them.

Another chuckle. “I’m not complaining.”

“I’m not really apologizing.”

His hand spreads flat and wide, thumb curling around the marble edge in a vice grip as he begins hauling himself onto the barstool next to mine. Or rather, hauling his chiseled torso onto the barstool while his lifeless lower half has no choice but to go along for the ride.

And when I say lifeless, I mean completely dead…

“Have you changed your mind?” He stops midcourse, suspended between two worlds, muscles rippling in one, legs dangling in the other. “Because this is much harder than I’m making it look so if you have, you’d best put me out of my misery now.”

Leaning down until I’m close enough to feel his breath on my lips and I’m damn sure he can feel mine on his, I whisper, “Click, click, bang.”

What’s the prompt for next week, guys?

  1. Wow! It completely my mind! What an interaction, dripping with sensuality and vulnerability…
Such a short emotional roller coaster!
    Thanks!

  2. “Click, click, bang”? Oh no, she’s going to kill him, isn’t she? I knew this would turn dark somewhere 🙂

  3. Absolutely LOVE it! Sweet with a touch of angst. You can tell he’s a bit tortured and I definitely love a tortured hero!
    Prompt: It must be love.
